Your Opinion Counts
July 25, 2010 by Jeff Winters
OurExperienceCounts.com was founded by three Silicon Valley executives who are passionate about providing both support and a voice for experienced workers.   After more than one year of development and input from both the OEC staff and web-community, the California State Economic Development Department (EDD) hosted our official launch on April 24th. Mike Cassidy of the San Jose Mercury News, wrote a wonderful article describing our mission and our challenges. This article was re-printed on the AARP website: (Older Workers Launch Site to Give Each Other a Leg Up) and in many other local newspapers all over the country.
OurExperienceCounts.com does not have a political agenda, nor do we have any alignment with a political party, but we will not hesitate to “Speak Out” on issues that threaten the welfare of or ignore the contribution that experienced workers have made to both our economy and our society. Corporate America has made it very clear that youth and its perceived benefits are more desirable than those provided by more experienced workers, but we refuse to acknowledge the wisdom behind this reality. For years, I have listened to members of the business community lament over the emergence of Asian economies and the regression of our own. Could it possibly be that we are competing against economies where age and wisdom are valued?     What do you think?
